Moving to Word Press

July 17, 2009

Hello dear readers! Like so many of you, I have opted to move my blog over to real Word Press instead of the pseudo Word Press that Sims3Legacy.com offers. I have no ill will towards Sims3Legacy.com what-so-ever. But, I think an actual Word Press blog is going to serve me better.

From now on, please visit me at http://roselegacy.wordpress.com/

Thanks!

Intermittent Updates – Sorry!

July 14, 2009

Editorial Note: I apologize for the infrequency of my updates lately. I haven’t had as much time to play the game as I would like, and I’ve had even less time to do an entry here. I have been attending events for my paying blogging gig, and well… the paying one takes priority.

I promise to have something up over the next few days. I’d do one now, but the Sims 3 website is giving people log in problems, myself included.

A Rose Legacy Challenge Update

July 4, 2009

Editorial Note: I’m sorry I haven’t added any new chapters in the past few days. I finally hit a point with my family where I could essentially build their dream house. I have spent a lot of game time doing that, and not as much time actually seeing the family progress. The house still needs work, but I need more money before I can do everything I want to.

Another change has been the ghost situation. At first, I wanted there to be a family graveyard, and have all the heirs and their spouses buried there. Unfortunately that became a huge nuisance. When a ghost dies, whatever their needs were at the moment are the ones they feel compelled to fulfill as ghosts. Almost all of mine died at the end of the day, which means they are all tired. They kept coming into the house and sleeping in my living people’s beds. Well, there’s no way to get them to wake up and move! Then Ghostly Charla become stuck and would not go back to her grave. So, after much frustration, I gave up and removed the graveyard. I think I’m going to go place the graves in the cemetery.

So… there will be no more ghostly interludes. You can expect regular chapters of story updates again after the holiday weekend!

Welcome to the Rose Family Legacy Blog

June 24, 2009

Hello! My name is “dreadpiraterose” and I am a Sims-a-holic. I started playing The Sims back when it first came out, and have been an avid fan ever since. I owned all the expansions for The Sims, and was even a beta tester for The Sims Online. I also played The Sims 2, and am now a happy owner of The Sims 3.

A lot of us Sims 3 players have been inspired by a posting on the official Sims 3 message boards, about creating a “Legacy Sim”. In short, it is a challenge to see your family perpetuate itself through 10 generations. There are all kinds of rules and restrictions, which I’ll let you go read for yourself.

An few editorial notes:

- I like telling stories and role-playing, so you won’t find a simple list of what my sims did for the day. I will be creating third person narative around what happens. Some screen shots may appear out of order in order to better convey elements of the story.

- That being said, I absolutely follow the rules and do not cheat. Even if I say the character was living in a friend’s basement for the sake of the story, she really was on a virtually empty lot living like “a hobo” as intended by the rules. Whenever situations like this come up, I will make an editorial note to be clear.

That’s all for now! Let’s see how this goes!
