Chapter 23 – The Fifth Generation is Born

Aili was whisked away to the hospital, and gave birth to a little girl. She named her Inara (after a character in her favorite television show). Maxwell was mysteriously absent. But fortunately for Aili, she had solid support structure at home. When it was time to take the baby back to the Rose mansion, Aili was stunned to find that her family had added finishing touches to the baby’s nursery.

Chapter 22 – Consequences

Although sad about the loss of her father, Aili suddenly found herself with even larger concerns. Her dalliances with Maxwell had had some rather unintended consequences. After finding herself visiting the bathroom every morning, Aili finally had her suspicions confirmed: she was pregnant.

What should have been otherwise happy news, made Aili nervous. She knew that Maxwell disliked children. What would he think? After a few days, she finally worked up the courage to tell him.

Chapter 21 – The Twins Reach Adulthood, But Not Without Tragedy

Whether it caused a sigh of relief, or more gray hairs for their parents, Aili and Jade  greeted adulthood happily. Jade still spent most of her time in her room on her computer, or going out at night. Her parents weren’t exactly sure what she was doing for a living, but she did pay for her own existence in the house and seemed perfectly fine (aside from the occasional moment of what appeared to be her conversing with herself).

Chapter 20 – A Bird Finally Leaves the Nest

It wasn’t long after the twins became official teenagers, that Julian started to rise in the scientific community. It also meant that Michael and Brie were getting older, grayer, and closer to retirement. Elena, although a few years younger than Michael, wasn’t too far behind retirement age herself.

Chapter Nineteen – Living Like Rock Stars

Although the Rose family had been pretty darn famous for four generations now, they had never lived like they were. Lena Rose, Michael’s grandmother, had always lived rather simply, and the rest of the family had followed suit. Their money was put into an investment in the local theater, and into the bank. True, the house that sat on the Rose family property had grown, but it was still dwarfed by the mansions that surrounded it.

No more!

Michael and his sister Elena got to see their dream house come to fruition, although it took many years. By the time the family got to move into it, Julian was a full grown adult, and the twin girls were in elementary school.
